Friendship

Meet Jennifer.

Jennifer is a teacher.  She loves making people feel special and like they are learning something!  She loves to help people, especially when they need it the most.  Without her, I don’t know how I would have got through some of life’s craziest times!  Jennifer is one of those special people in your life.  She is the definition of friendship.  That means always being there for you and loving you no matter what.  Jennifer is always fun, except before she’s had her tea in the morning. 😛  But I love her anyway.  And she is my SUPER ORGANIZED friend!  She always knows what’s up!  Jennifer always makes you feel like you’ve been heard and that you have been understood.  Friends like her are few and far between.

I was so excited when I had the chance to photograph her when we were “on holiday” together in Seattle this past year.  We had so much fun wandering throughout Elliot Bay Books, one of our favorite places to just hang out.  The lighting was beautiful coming through the skylights as we just hung out in the Science Fiction-Fantasy section, Jennifer’s favorite of course and grabbed some beautiful headshots for her!  There is nothing like hanging out with your friends, doing what you love!

Where to Start.

I’ve started this blog about friendship what feels like a hundred times.  I don’t feel like I can do it justice.  Friendship is something that means more to me than anything else in the world.  If you’re reading this, maybe it does to you too.  Maybe you can picture your best friend, or your group of best friends right now.  That is absolutely the most sweetest thing.

Fighting Loneliness.

The past few months have been a particularly lonely time for me.  My best friends and I are spread out across the continent.  I don’t get to talk to them very often and I get to see them even less.  The one thing I can count on is that when we do talk or see each other it’s like we were never apart.  That is the magic of true friendship.  I have some friends that we could be separated by years, timezones and several phases of life, but the moment we are back together, we can pick up right where we left off.

I’ve always known my friendships were special.  We truly care for one another on the deepest level possible and share in each other’s victories and sufferings.  We love each other and annoy the crap out of each other.  It’s something I’ve missed dearly since I’ve moved to the East Coast.

Starting and restarting this blog, I was never sure where I was going with this idea.  I know that I wanted to bring to you the idea of friendship.  I want to encourage you, especially those of you who maybe have felt like I have that there is hope.  Friendship is out there to be had.

Maybe you are like me and you didn’t realize how lonely you had felt until right now.  That’s ok too.  I realized I was believing a lie that I didn’t have friends here in the DC area, but I do and you do too.  There are people who love us and are excited to get to spend time with us and we them.  I think I also wanted to encourage us all to be a little friendlier to those around us.  You never know where you are going to meet your next friend or even your next best friend!

You are loved.

I know first hand the lie that loneliness can whisper in our ears, but I want to break that off of us and I want you to know how much you are loved just as I am and she is and she is!  One of my greatest goals, whether in my personal life or through my photography, is to show women how amazing and worthy they are.  I hope that today you know you are loved and that you do have friends who love you and cherish you.
